The Junior Gems Room is approximately 250 sqm.This is a revolutionary design which allows children to benefit from a large open plan space while still having their own dedicated areas. Again, this room is well lit with lots of natural light provided by 10 large windows situated around the room.

The room is split into three sections – 1-2 years, 2–3 years and pre-school - and is decorated with children’s art work and professionally painted murals.

This area offers the children the chance to develop their social skills and expand their levels of concentration. The children have access to a story corner which has small leather arm chairs and large cushions where the staff are encouraged to read and sing songs to the children. A caterpillar tunnel and ball pool are also very popular in this area. The messy area has tables for painting and gluing activities and both sand and water trays.

The children within this area are developing their mathematical and language skills. The staff support this development by providing the children with jigsaws and construction toys and also have a story corner and ever changing role play corner.

The children have access to computers where they can listen to stories or play simple ‘mouse control’ games. The messy area has tables for activities such as gluing and baking and a painting easel, where the children can be proper artists for the day!

Pre-school offers the appropriate education for children getting ready to move on to school.

The children are almost independent but still need help and encouragement with simple reading and writing skills. The pre-school children also have access to computers through out the day where they can practise matching and sorting and simple counting.

The pre-school area is separated form the rest of the room by a small gate so they cannot have access to scissors and any games with may have small pieces.

The messy area consists of sand and water play, painting, gluing, junk modelling and baking activities which all go on through out the day.
